The rate of students who are scanned varies by race. 48% of black high school students and 38% of Hispanic high school students are scanned, versus 14% of Asian and white high school students.
The rate also varies by borough. Bronx (62% of high school students),  Brooklyn (42%), Manhattan (26%), Queens (20%), and no high school students on Staten Island.
43% of English Language Learners in high school go through metal detectors.
712 weapons were found by scanners in the 2013-2014 school year. At the rate students are scanned now, that would amount to one dangerous item found for about every 23,0234 scans.
